The health, Safety, and environmental protection (HSE) system in Baku Steel Company CJSC (BSC) is established by the requirements of legislative norms of the Azerbaijan Republic and state standards and regulations. The health and Safety Policy of the Company approved on 18 July 2023 stipulates that all employees (including contractors and trainees), as well as customers, visitors, and members of the public, shall perform all activities related to the assurance of safety and healthy work environment by the requirements of ISO 45001:2018 standard and relevant local legislative acts. 


The main obligations of BSC in the Health and Safety area are the following:

  • Act by the existing Health and Safety legislation and international standards;
  • Define Health and Safety targets and introduce the lines of action for their control;
  • Identify all hazards and ensure minimization of risks;
  • Ensure compliance with standards for the creation of proper sanitary and hygienic conditions in the workplace and labor protection, as well as providing employees with the necessary sanitary, household, and medical services;
  • Educate, inform, and train the employees regularly to ensure their safe work, arrange discussions with employees on health and safety issues, and ensure their participation in discussions;
  • Ensure provision of relevant protection and safety equipment, including personal protective equipment;
  • Investigate incidents and occupational accidents, ensure prevention of similar events in the future by identifying and eliminating factors leading to such accidents;
  • Continuously monitor and improve the existing Health and Safety Management system;
  • Identify and analyze customer demands, and respective legislative and regulatory requirements and perform appropriate safety actions;
  • Identify and evaluate risks and opportunities that may impact the suitability of goods and services, including the ability to increase customer satisfaction;
  • Continuously focus on improvement of customer satisfaction and stakeholder engagement;

Ensure implementation of the Health and Safety Policy in all entities and operation areas of BSC. The objective of the HSE Policy is to ensure a safe and healthy work environment free from injuries and occupational diseases. This can only be achieved through the active participation, cooperation and commitment of all staff members.
